One of my all-time favorite Fantastic Four covers by Jack Kirby! The FF go to Latveria and are held there and then released by its monarch, none other than Doctor Doom. Each issue features an incredible full page art featuring Doom in his best-ever rendition by Jack Kirby, the rest of the art of this 4-issue saga (#84-#87) is totally explosive and action-packed. in 1969, Jack Kirby’s at the top of his craft, like most of the Marvel Bullpen, with immortal names such as John Romita, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, John Buscema, etc.
The challenge for this re-creation was to see how I’d be able to handle the lights from the ceiling and how they’d “carve” the characters from the dark. It was also about keeping the drama that stems from the expressions on the faces and the attitude, the body language of the characters, as if they’d just undergone their worst defeat and were painfully leaving with a shattered ego.

Les FF se rendent en Latvérie, où ils y sont retenus captifs, puis libérés par son monarque, il s’agit bien sûr du Docteur Fatalis. Chaque épisode contient une incroyable image en page pleine avec une des meilleures versions jamais dessinées de Fatalis, par Jack Kirby. Le reste des illustrations de cette saga en 4 épisodes (#84-87) est totalement explosif et rempli d’action. En 1969, Jack Kirby est au sommet de son art, de la même façon que la plupart du Marvel Bullpen, avec des noms d’immortels tels que John Romita, Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, John Buscema, etc.
Le challenge pour cette re-création était de voir comment j’aillais réussir à gérer les lumières qui descendent du plafond et de quelle façon elles “sculptent” les personnages de l’obscurité. Il était aussi question de conserver au mieux l’ambiance dramatique qui ressort des expressions des visages et des poses des personnages, comme s’ils venaient de subir leur pire défaite et de quitter péniblement la scène avec un égo en miettes.
