En début de match la France se voit infligée un 7-0 de la Grèce.
Elle remonte assez vite et s’accroche, égalise même en 2ème quartan, sans passer devant. Nando de Colo réalise un excellent premier quartan (premier extrait) et Noah aux prises avec le très physique Ionnis Bourousis (17 points, 11 rebonds) réussit tout de même un dunk rageur avant la mi-temps.
En deuxième période, les français entament un 3ème quartan catastrophique où l’on peut se dire que la partie est perdue, tant les grecs sont efficaces offensivement. Ils reviennent pourtant au score, égalisent 2 fois et prennent la tête au score avec 8’14 restant en 4ème quartan et jusqu’au bout du match, où une fois encore on peut dire que c’est “Parker-time”. A noter qu’en fin de partie, l’arbitrage favorise nettement les grecs, lorsque Boris Diaw est 2 fois de suite sanctionné par une faute limite, et Noah sur Bourousis alors qu’une faute offensive du centre grec aurait pu être sifflée lorsque son coude entre en contact avec le visage de Noah. Une faute que Yannick Noah, présent dans le public, n’a pas raté !
Bref, un excellent match.
Greece starts with a 7-0 run, even though France quickly gets back in the game, only trailing by a few points. France manages to tie the game in second quarter, but not to take the lead. Nando De Colo has his best 1st quarter of the championship (1st clip), and Noah, even though struggling with Ioannis Bourousis’ physicality (17 points, 11 rebounds), still manages an explosive dunk before half-time.
In the second half, France’s catastrophic 3rd quarter makes you wonder whether they can come back from such an efficiently offensive Greek team. They do come back, tie the game a couple of times and take the lead with 8’14 left in 4th quarter. In the Money time (the Parker Time), France keeps the lead, even though officials somewhat favor Greece, when Boris Diaw is called twice in a row for a questionable foul, and especially when Noah gets called when an offensive foul should probably have been called on Bourousis, as his elbow met Noah’s face, a foul Yannick Noah, who was in the audience, did not miss!
